Debola Akinsanya aka GidisDrummerBoy is fast becoming a You Tube sensation. A talented young drummer who continues to perfect his talent with fierce passion, Akinsanya has done covers for a variety of songs ranging from Linkin Park, DA GRIN, Cold Play to Kid Konnect’s remix on the hit song “Look at Me Now.”
“(I’ve) been drumming seriously for about 2 years now, hopefully getting better every new day. . .
I hope that one day I will be able to play the more complicated stuff, but I know I’ll get there soon. [It's] all about practice practice and more practice.
My favourite genres are Naija (Nigerian music) and all kinds of rock… not really a fan of metal but most metal drummers are quite sick and I admire them and aspire to be able to do what they do… I also want to develop the independence and coordination needed for jazz playing, especially bebop….
