(Los Angeles, CA) “The BET Awards is the most watched award show globally. It is therefore HUGE and a major honor that Nigerian and African celebrities are celebrated on such platform, for the first time, in the USA.” This was the paraphrased introduction that Nicholas Okoye, President and CEO of Anabel Mobile Ltd gave at the BET International VIP party, yesterday, honoring all of the African celebrities nominated under the ‘Best International Act’ category for BET 2010 Awards.Okoye also gave away Mobile phones to the artists for their accomplishments.
The VIP party had many of the movers and shakers in the industry present including top BET Network executives. With a beautiful decor, music and mouth watering food to eat, guests seem to have a good time as they mingled with the nominees, danced, took pictures and talked the business of music.
For Peter & Paul (P-Square) as well as MI, it has been a whirlwind of activities since they arrived in LA, yesterday. With PR managed by Joy Tongo (JTON Productions) for P-Square, Adewole Lipede (Backhome Productions) and BET’s Lilian Blankson (responsible for orchestrating and executing the Africans nominated on the list), the artists have hit the ground running with interviews and handling their fan fare.
This morning began with a press conference call that included interviews with talk show host Wendy Williams, among many media outlets. The later part of the day saw the artists move to the actual venue for the event, the Shrine Auditorium, for even more interviews; this time with various radio stations nationwide including BET Radio Network.
Tomorrow promises to be even more exciting as these artists meet their counterparts here in the USA and share the limelight with them while millions watch, worldwide. Congratulations to all. Here are a few pictures so far. Enjoy.
